Static passing practice (10 mins)

Organizational / Instructions

* The 3 coaches (marked as orange cones) will take a sqaure each with 4 or 5 participants and will all explain what will happen with each section of the technical practices.

* Coaches will take a minimum of 2-3 minutes explaining the practice of chest passing & do the basic steps for it.

* Each square will be given a ball and marker cones.

* In this exercise it's all learning how to do the chest pass & create a small team cohesion to help them work together.

* They must learn the steps and then build up speed & begin to call each others name when passing to, so they stay alert.

Coaching Points

* To hold the ball the thrower must position ttheir hands into a W shape.

* Their thumbs must face downwards.

* Arms must be in towards the body (no chicken wings!)

* Finally they must step in and push through the ball across to the catcher's chest (not any lower or higher)

Progressions / Adaptations

* Progressing this exercise, it will involve adding a little bit of competition between the different teams, with rallys and consective passes.

* To make it easier for some, they can take to slow to they can figure out the steps & take their time to build up.
