Organisation:

- 4v2 + GK

- Full width of pitch

Red - 10/7/11/9

Blue - 5/6 + GK

- Recap of Thursday's session

- Ball starts with #10, who can play into #9 or to either wide player

- Blue defenders defend width of penalty area

- Reds must score inside penalty area, blue's score by passing/ clearing ball from penalty area

Tech/ Tact:

- Don't get caught ahead of the pass - allow for first touch infront if required

- Weight of pass into wide player

- Quality of the cut back/ cross from wide player

- Timing of run from central players

- Recognise position of GK

- Wide player's awareness of defenders position

Assistant:

- Rest of squad (6 players) playing 3v3

- Score by dribbling over end line

Penalty area game

Organisation:

- 3 teams of 4/5 + GK (depending on numbers)

- Play within the penalty area

- Supply of footballs around outside of area to keep the game flowing

Rules:

- The ball is served in by the players on the outside of the box, who act as bounce players for the team in possession

- If the ball goes dead, play a new ball into the team that didn't lose possession

- First to 2 goals wins - winner stays on!

Tech Tact:

- Get ball out of body to shoot (body shape)

- Follow up shots (rebounds)

- Combine with team mates & bounce players

- Support wide play, look for cut backs, driven crosses

Box on box game

Organisation:

- 3 teams of 4 + 2 GK's (depending on numbers)

- Pitch is the size of 2 penalty areas

- Supply of footballs to ensure intensity stays high

- 2 teams on (2 attackers/ 2 defenders). The other team act as wide players.

Rules:

- Goals must be scored in penalty area

- 2 goals to win the game - winner stays on

- first time finish from a cross = 2 goals

Tech/ Tact:

- Movement to receive in a position to score (Luke R)

- Open up body to strike

- Decision to shoot first time or take a touch

Organisation:

- Working in the final third of the pitch (full width)

- 3 gates as goals for defending team to attack

Focus team (red): 2-2-3

Opposition (blue): 1-4-1

Scoring:

- Red team score in goal (2 goals awarded if inside box)

- Blue team score in either of the 3 gates

How can we utilise the bigger space to create goal scoring opportunities in the penalty area? Create space, play centrally or wide.

How can we consolidate what we have worked on over the past 3 weeks? Recognise space, make decisions based on what you have seen.

How do we look in transition? Narrow up, full backs tuck inside to prevent long ball. Pressure on the ball.

Tech/ Tact

- Movement from #9 to receive the ball, create space for a shot

- Awareness of the Gk's position when shooting

- Quick, incisive combinations

- Decisions from #7/#11 on type of cross (defenders position)

- Quality/ weight/ type of pass that sets up an attack

- Position of #2/#3/#8 to suppoort transition

- Timing of runs into box
