Ball Striking Practice

Instructions:

  • Teams will compete in a technical race. First player in line will run out to the gate. They will turn and ask for the ball from the 2nd player in line. Players have a touch and a finish on goal with their laces. 

Coaching Points:

  • Toe down
  • Ankle locked 
  • Follow through
  • Placing plant foot
  • See target on first touch 

Progressions/Regressions:

  • Progression: ball must be hit on the move from the first touch

Technical Reps

Instructions:

  • The first player in line will roll the ball through their teammate's legs. The player attacking will do a move around the diamond and then find a shot on goal. 
  • Players will then rotate passer, attacker, goal keeper. +1 pt if they score, -1 pt if they get scored on

Coaching Points:

  • Drive at front cone
  • Entry, execution, exit
  • Prep touch
  • Find target/ space (placement of keeper)
  • Strike with laces

Instructions:

  • Just like the technical reps, the second attacker in line will play the ball through the first player's legs. It will then be live 1v1 to goal. 
  • Attackers read the space to either shoot right away or execute a move around the defender.

  • Drive at foot
  • Entry, execution, exit
  • Prep touch
  • Find target/ space (placement of keeper)
  • Strike with laces

Conditioned Game

Instructions:

  • Team must be completely past the halfway line before they score
  • Use mid line as an offsides line, teams can pass or dribble across the line

Coaching Points:

    • Drive at foot
    • Entry, execution, exit
    • Prep touch
    • Find target/ space (placement of keeper)
    • Strike with laces

Progressions/Regressions:

  • Teams have to pass the ball to a teammate making a run onto the ball to cross over the halfway line
