Team Learning Objectives - to practice and become familiar with a diamond midfield.
Session Organisation - a 20x20 square divided as shown. Players shown are the numbers we had.
How to Play - teams keep possession using their team mates and the neutral players (restricted to 2 touch). Teams must keep at least one player in each of the 4 areas. If you pass the ball to an outside player you stay in the same area. If you pass into another area you must leave the area you are in. (You don't necessarily have to follow your pass).
Progressions - Allow players to dribble the ball into another area. Allow 1 neutral to neutral pass.
Tech/Tact Focus - scanning, filling holes created by movement, passing and first touch.
Physical Focus - acceleration and deceleration. Match pace.
Social Focus - team work, communication.
Psychological Focus - concentration, willingness to work off the ball, willingness to want the ball.

Physical Focus - match pace and movements.
Social Focus - team and unit development.
Psychological Focus - concentration, communication, leadership.
NB - session ends with a SSG without the marked central area but reinforce the principles of play throughout.
