This lesson is to help goalkeepers understand their progression across the front of goal as the ball moves from one side of the field to the other. With a focus on shop stopping from all angles.
Positioning on corner kicks with saves through traffic will also be covered.

Game time situations (corner kicks and free kicks)
Keepers will take 1 ball from all three stations and then rotate to the back of the line.
For group A (6pm group)
- Station 1,& 3 will be a pass to a player at A & B who will then shot the ball on goal. (one touch if possible)
- Station 2 will be a direct shot on goal through traffic.
For Group B (7:15 group)
- Disregard A & B
- 1 & 3 will be crosses / corner kicks above shoulder height.
- 2 will be direct shots from ground level to shoulder height.

Simple Keeper wars with game starting from a shot at a wide angle
There will be two teams (we will use pennies to determine the teams)
Start with station A which will always be TEAM 1 shooting on the keeper at position 1 from team 2.
- If keeper makes save and controls the ball he can immediately shoot or throw (if ball was controlled with hands) at opponents goal.
- Rounds end if a goal is scored or the ball goes out of play. Rotate goalkeepers when they have been scored on. Goal keepers go to the back of their teams line. Last shooting player goes in as keeper if his keeper is scored on that round.
- Keeper goals are worth 1 point. Shots from the side are worth 2.
- First team to 6 wins. Losing team runs midfield and back. Repeat if time available.

Keeper progression across goal
Drill is designed to get keepers comfortable with moving across the face of the goal while making saves from different angles. Strong focus on staying on "imaginary" half circle as the keeper moves left to right and right to left.
- Goal keeper will start at position 1 in the goal, in ready position. Player/coach will take shot from position A to keeper at position 1. (keep in mind these shots should be at keeper or "savable', but with power.
- Keeper will make the save and with a strong roll return the ball to player at position A.
- The player at position A will then pass the ball to the player at position B. That player will take a shot from position B at the keeper in position 2.
- The Keeper after rolling the ball back to position A will shuffle to position 2 and be ready from shot from player at position B.
- This progression will continue through positions 5 (for the keeper) and position E for the striking player.
- Rotation will go
- Keeper when done goes to Position A.
- A goes to B and so on with the Player at position E going to the end of the line. Player in front of line becomes the next keeper.
THIS DRILL WILL BE THE SAME FOR BOTH THE 6pm and 7:15pm groups
