Description

RDS Carlstadt- Give and go combination play (half spaces and flanks; Final third)

Technical:

-How to play pass for quick combination (outside of the foot)

-Which foot to dribble with when approaching defender (Closest to teammate)

-Body shape of receiving player in give and go (open, creative/disguise passing)

-Does the defender have momentum or not? (Driving at them or committing them?)

-Is there space behind for me to run into? (Tells if give and go is on, or if you need to commit the defender to create space to run into behind)

-Should I fake the pass and beat the defender 1v1?

-Where should I move to support my teammate for the give and go? (If driving, come closer and in front of defender to make combo tight, If commiting, stay even with defender and a bit wider)

Pyschosocial:

- Have players get into a attacking mentailty

- Aggressive with the ball in possession

Phsycial:

- Balance while driving at defender/beating defender

- Use of body to protect ball after recieving it (closing the door)

Juggling/SAQ/Technical (30 mins)

Organization:

Three flags/cones set up in 15x15x15 triangle (place on field to give visual refrence). 4 players per grid with balls at one flag. Pugg goals set up as shown.

Instructions:

- Players juggle in groups for arrival (10)

- Two lines, various dynmaic SAQ movements (3 if lots of kids)

- Technical reps

A) Player checks away from the flag, then checks to for a double pass. Player then makes a give and go run and plays same combination with next player. First team to make it around the triangle 16 times wins.

B) Players play combination to goal. Finish must be with first touch. First team to 6 goals wins. Rotate 1 to 2 to 3.

P) First two players play 2v1 against third player, who can score in opposite net for a point. The only pass needed is double pass. Defender is live on first pass. Give and go combination is not required. (focus on decision making of players and spacing of movements)

Coaching Points:

Technical:

-How to play pass for quick combination (outside of the foot)

-Which foot to dribble with when approaching defender (Closest to teammate)

-Body shape of receiving player in give and go (open, creative/disguise passing)

-Timing of pass and run, pass should be in front of player so they don't slow down.

- Position of defender, is he giving you the pass or dirbble?

Progressions/Regressions:

P) See if player can catch their pass (quick movements)

R) Players open up and receive around flag with their back foot before playing next player

Conditioned Game (30 mins)

Organization:

4v4+2 nuetral players. 8 cones set up around area (with balls on top if possible). Area is 36x40.

Instructions:

Players score for their team by knocking over a cone (or a ball off a cone) for a point. When all the cones are knocked over the game is over and the team with the most points wins. Players must pass to a teammate (or nuetral) and receive the ball back from the same teammate (or nuetral) before their team can score. Balls always start as a 50/50 ball from coach.

If you do not have enough balls, use four pugg goals, one on each side. Coach can use pinnies to indicate which goals to score in.

*If teams are only making 2 or 3 passes, add in that 5 passes gets a point as well, but cone goals are now worth 3 points.

Coaching Points:

Tactical:

-Is there space behind for me to run into in the direction I want to go? (Tells if give and go is on, or if you need to commit the defender to create space to run into behind)

-Where should I move to support my teammate for the give and go? (If driving, come closer and in front of defender to make combo tight, If commiting, stay even with defender and a bit wider)

-If I am unable to get behind defender, where else can I go with the ball? (Eyes up to have awareness of other goals/players, passing to keep the ball if penetration is not on).

Progressions/Regressions:

P) Move pugg goal to each corner on a angle. Add a gate between each pugg on endline. Players score for their team by passing into the pugg goal for 1 point or dribbling through the central gate for 5 points. First team to 7 points wins.

P) GK can only use hands and must be played to before a goal is scored.

P) Add 2 pugg goals on each side to make posts for big goals. Yellow attack one side, gray attack the other. Neutrals are now GK and can use hands or feet. Balls are started from a "goal kick" from coach as a 50/50 ball (both sides, use parent coach for otherside).

P) Free play 4v4 or 5v5. Play w/ goalkeepers if possible.

R) Set cones back up after they are knocked over for points. First team to 5 points wins.
