Cone wars

CONE WARS 

Setup 

- In a 16m x 27m area, spread out cones across the pitch.

- Split group int two teams one team must have more players than the other team. -  example 4 Blue (attackers) vs 2 Yellow (defenders)

- Play for 5 minutes, at the end count how many cones were saved by the defenders. 

- Swap defenders 

Description 

- Blue team must try and flip all of the cones upside down, while the yellow team must try and stop them by flipping the cones the right way up. you cannot touch the same cone 2 times in a row. 

- all players must have a ball at their feet the whole time. 

- Play for 5 minutes, at the end count how many cones were saved by the defenders.

- Swap defenders after each set. 

Coaching points 

Encourage the players to stop the ball at the cone before they flip it over. - "stop the ball with the sole of your foot." - give an example of this 

- Encourage players to dribble with their head up to scan for ones that they can flip over - "look for a cone while you dribble."
