Crab Soccer (15 mins)

Session Topic: Attacking Principles

Dribbling, Finding open space

Stage: Warm-up/Activation Activity

Set Up:

10 x 20 yard sqaure (Scale to age and level of play)

Time:

10 - 15 mins (work for 1 minute then rest 30-60 seconds)

Orginization:

All players, each with a soccer ball, line up on one end line of the area. One player starts in the middle and is the crab. On coaches go they will dribble accross the area and try to not have their balls kicked out of the area by the crab. If the ball goes out on the sideline they will become a crab. They have to dribble to the other endline and stop the ball with the sole of their foot. If the ball goes over the endline out of control they become a crab as well. When players reach the endline they have to wait for the coach to say go again before they can dribble back to the other endline. Crabs must be on their hands and legs like a "crab". Last player standing wins.

Coaching Points:

Ball Control (Soft Touch, point ankle down when dribbling, use laces and pinky toe)

Conditioning (Pace of Play)
