Passing Along Defensive Line (10 mins)

3 groups of 4 each in their own 3rd zone. Each group has their own ball.

The back four practice passing the ball back along the defensive line. They do not have to pass to their nearest team mate. For instance 5 does not have to always pass to 4, but can go straight to 3. Do not allow them to try wing to wing though.

Encourage the centre backs to drop off when the full backs are looking to pass to give themselves more space and time to receive and play the ball

Playing Out with Defensive Zones (20 mins)

a defensive team of four in the middle third. two attacking teams of 4 in the outside thirds.

Only two players from the middle third are allowed to pressure in the outside zones.

The aim is for the attacking teams on the outside thirds to get the ball to the opposite third.

If the defensive team wins the ball they swap with the team that lost it.

Aim is for the defensive 8 to play the ball out the back and score in one of the two small goals on the wings. The attacking 56 can score in the big goal at any time if they win the ball.
