Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Defensive Shape U10 U11 U12

1V1 Cannavaro (20 mins)

Organization:

• 2 Fields 15x10
• 6 Players per field 
• 1 Ball per field 

Instructions:

• Defensive Player pass to the Offensive player.
• Offensive player try to dribble toward the opposite line (defensive)
• Defensive player can steal the ball only in the defensive zone.
• Offensive Player dribble toward the opposite line = 1 Point
• Defensive Player steal and clear the ball = 1 Point
• Defensive Player Steal and Dribble toward the opposit line (offensive line) = 2 Points 

Coaching Points/Questions:

• Angle of approach (body angle to force away from goal)
• Timing of the tackle(wait for the right moment) , don’t dive in.

• Speed to stop defender before they score.

Progressions:

• Defender can steal the ball anywhere (pressure)

Regressions:

Defensive Shape (30 mins)

Organization:

• Half Field (38x38)
• GK+3 Defenders VS 3 Offense + Neutral 
• 1 Big Goal / 2 Pog Goals

Instructions:

• GK kick the ball to the offensive Players 
• Offensive Players Attack the defense and try to score
• Defense try to steal the ball and score in the small goals 
• Defense try to use Defending team move (PRESSURE, COVER, BALANCE) 
• Neutral player Help both team when they have a ball.

Coaching Points/Questions:

• Defend as a unit (pressure, cover, balance). 
• Wait for the right moment to press and steal the ball.

• Communication.
• Transition and use the neutral player when you steal the ball.
