Triangle Passing & Moving (15 mins)
Setup
1: setup a 10 x 10 box in the middle
2: the lineup of 3 is 15 yards away from the box - each player in this line has a socccer ball at their feet
3: the single player on the cone is 10 yards away - without a ball
Instructions
1: First player in line with the ball will make a pass to the player in the middle
2: The player in the middle will take a touch with the inside of their foot ( in direction TOWARDS where the pass will be played) and make a pass to the player to the outside - NOTE: the passing MUST go to their feet (passing it into space is a progression)
3: Player receiving the final pass will take a touch INTO space and dribbling to the back of the appropriate line
Coaching Points
1: Passes are made to a players feet - REMINDER: passes into space are a progression
2: Players in the middle are taking a quick look into the direction of their next pass BEFORE the pass is received to their feet
3: Players in the middle are taking their first touch in direction of their next pass with their LEFT inside and making a pass with RIGHT inside
4: When players make a pass and move to their next spot (i.e. players FOLLOW their pass) - DO NOT allow them to turn their back to the ball
5: Players on the outside must take their touch INTO space and dribble to the appropriate line
Simplification
1: Shorten the distance for each pass
2: Player in the middle dribble 5 yards and then make a pass to the outside
Progression
1: Increase the distances (5-10 yards) of the activity
2: Passes to the player on the outside are INTO space
3: Having players in the middle switch the direction of passes
4: Callling out "SWITCH" and passes are made in opposite direction
