Progression - Same set up, Player plays around the corner, you get the runner in with a switch. Players then rotate to fill in the gaps left. Same as before work both sides.

Practice organisation
• Area 60x40yds, divided into 6 zones, with end zones 10x40yds,
divided into 2 equal size areas & 2 central zones, each 20x40yds wide,
as illustrated.
• 16 players, 1 ball.
• 3v3 in each central zone, 2 Target players for each team in each of 2
end zones.
• Practice starts with the Blues in possession.
• Objective of game to pass through each of 2 central zones to play
into T.
• Once achieved, T player transfers ball to second T
in adjoining end zone.
• Second T passes into opponent’s central third player to change
direction of play.
• T players may change positions, but must remain in balance, as do
central players, in terms of numbers.
Detail
• Challenge 1: Try to play forward early, or (if unable), pass to a player
who is in a position to do so.
• Teams need to retain their positional balance & structure.
• Exchanges of position in central zones, whilst maintaining balance is
encouraged.
• Choice, speed & accuracy of passes in congested central zones.
• Quality of passes into T’s, who will be on the move
in end zones.
• Simple progressions for this practice are:
- D’s may press in end zone.
- Players may pass into end zones & replace receiving player who
exits end zone for mid zone.

- Players to look for spaces to exploit.
- Create space for team mate to exploit.
- Place changing to unbalance opposition.
- Deal with opponents entering into grid

8 v 8 Game: Possession with Purpose (15 mins)
Set-Up: Field is 70yds long x 50yds wide with a half-way line and 2 goals at either end. Two equal teams, with 2 Goalkeepers. Balls distributed beside goals to keep the game flowing when balls go out of play.
Players are restricted to playing forward passes only. Players around the ball need to understand when to give the option of coming to feet or when they have to make a run to receive into space.
Instructions: Play 8 v 8 with offside in effect. Re-start from the GK when a goal is scored or ball goes out of play.
Coaching Points: Stay switched on - immediate transition from defending to attacking
1.Create width and depth 2.Quality and speed of pass 3.Deception of pass 4.Movement off the ball 4.Awareness 5.Can the ball be played early in to striker in attacking zone 5.Give support early and quickly to create overloads in the attacking zone

Description - Passing and receiving practise which incoparates running with the ball. The ball starts with the 3 players at the top who play it into the player facing him. He receives on the back foot and plays the runner in. Work either side. Defender uses passive defending.
