THE SESSION:
Set Up the area as seen in the image with 4 horizontal zones in the area.
These conditions should be added in stages (in any order) to help the players become accustomed to the different demands of the game, whilst encouraging them to play forward.
-Players can pass no more than twice in each zone, forcing them to play forwards or backwards to create length and depth whilst also maintaining width.
-When playing forward players cannot pass into the next zone (for example from zone 1 to 2, 2 to 3). However, players can dribble into the next zone.
-Players can only pass once in the same zone.
-Players can not pass in the same zone at all.
-Players cannot pass above knee height.
Conditions to be added in line with the ability of the players.
KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:
-Movement to create space
Players to use creative movement to find spaces and create triangles and diamonds, whilst making forward movements to stretch the opposition defenders (pushing them back) to also create space in the middle.
-Play Forward
Players should be encouraged to break lines early and move forward to find the players in the most advanced areas to move up the field and cause problems to the opposition.
-Body Position
Players need to be on the half turn to recognise when to pass forward or back and also when to dribble.
