Ball Manipulation Warm Up 1 (15 mins)
Ball Manipulation Warm Up.
25y by 25y area, 5y by 7y square in the middle.
6 players start in the middle square each with a ball, 6 players are on the outside without a ball.
The players in the middle will dribble the ball to a player on the outside, stop it and then swap positions, theplayer with the ball now will dribble through any part of the square and pass to someone else. This will continue for 3 minutes.
To progress this drill further, I will ask the players who receive the ball from an outside player to either:
- Enter the square one way and come out another
- Perform a turn in the square, cryuff turn, stepover, scissors
- Use either their left/right foot/inside/outside/laces
Once they have gone through the square I will get them to either:
- Pass to the player using the inside/outside/laces
- One two with the outside player
- Depending on the standard of players, chip the ball up to the outside players.
This session could also be a good conditioning drill if you wanted it to be, if so make sure you give each player time to recover because it can be an intense drill.
