For assignment 9 of my UEFA B License i was asked to design a session to develop striker movement. Along with this session i was to integrate a physical preparation session to improve agility. Here i have to relate how improving agility alongside striker movement can help improve performance.

Organisation
Working in half a pitch
16 players - 14 outfield 2 gk
4 players acting as defenders
Activity
Working on finishing & striker movement
Going through 2 different situations in a game and with a few options when in these positions
Looking at firstly linking up with the 1st striker
Pattern of play
Right defender will start with the ball and pass to the right midfielder
On recieiving the ball the right midfielder will look to link up with the 1st striker
The right midfielder will play a 1-2 with the striker then look to deliver a cross
Strikers will spin and look to get on the end of the cross
Coaching Points
Strikers looking to work together moving in relation to the ball
1st striker drops checks away and drops in to link up with right midfielder
2nd striker becomes central and lengthens the game
Good 1-2 with wide midfielder focusing on first touch
1st striker spins and times their run looking to arrive in the box
2nd striker spins out arcing their run then looking to make a run across to the front post
Opposite wide player timing run into back post
2nd centre mid being the 3rd man runner timing their run into edge of the box
Wide midfielder to get their head up before they cross
Different type of cross (driving, floated & cut back)

Working in half a pitch
16 players - 14 outfield 2 gk

Activity
Working on finishing & striker movement
Going through 2 different situations in a game and with a few options when in these positions
Now looking at linking up with the 2nd striker
Pattern of play - option 2
Ball will start at the right or left back and passes out to the wide midfielder
The wide midfielder will look to play 1st striker if possible if not then the ball is dropped back to the CM

Activity
Working on finishing & striker movement
Going through 2 different situations in a game and with a few options when in these positions
Now looking at linking up with the 2nd striker
Pattern of play - option 2 alternative
Ball will start at the right or left back and passes out to the wide midfielder
The wide midfielder will look to play 1st striker if possible if not then the ball is dropped back to the CM
The 1st striker shows for the ball but the centre mid plays into 2nd striker
Instead of spinning in behind the 1st striker will make a run across the face of the 2nd striker
On receiving a pass from the centre mid the 2nd striker will hold the ball up for the 1st striker run
The 2nd striker will lay the ball off for the first striker who will then shoot at goal

Organisation
16 players - 14 outfield plus 2 gk.
8v8
3 zones - defensive, middle and attacking 3rd.
Wide areas identified as well.
Activity
Continuing on from component 1
Striker movement conditioned game (component 2).
3 zoned game 8v8 working into the large goals.
Blues shaped up in a 4-2-1 formation and reds set up in a 1-4-2 formation.
Players can advance between the 3 zones but not drop back further than their original zone. (For example the midfielder can go and support the striker but can't drop back in to cover the defender).
Before this can happen the ball must be played into the striker 1st before the players can go into support.
The ball can go back into the middle zone from the attacking zone and players can still go into support strikers.
Idea is to use patterns worked on in component 1 to try and break down defenders
Overload created to increase the chance of success
Ball must be played into striker before going into support
Progression
1 player from each team can drop back into defend
Also zones are removed and is now a free game.
Coaching Points
Players are looking to use coaching points learned in component 1.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Organisation
16 players - 9v7
9 red players v 7 blue players (creating an overload against defending team
Working in just over half a pitch using full width.
Activity
Free play phase of play.
Coach is looking for times in the game when team don't do what was worked on in component 1.
The coach is then looking to show the team the solution and what could have been done in that situation then let the play go again and hopefully the team will perform better in that situation.
The reds will be shooting into the large 11 a side goal.
If the blues win the ball they look to find the green feeder for a goal.
Each time the ball goes behind for a goal kick the play will re start from the feeder.

Physical Preparation Agility (15 mins)
Organisation
Sprint start - 20 yards from start to finish with a 5 yard head start
Diagonal sprint - cones 2 yards apart in length 4 in width. 2nd cone only 2 wide of the 1st same for last
Speed Box - 5x5 yards box
Y Drill - bottom to middle cone 5 yards, bottom to top cone 8 yards, top end cones 3 yards from centre
Each station 5 yards apart
Activity
15 minute physical preparation workout designed to imporve agility and reactions.
These movements are designed to work in cohession with the session designed to improve striker movement.
These are short sharp movements should be no longer to 5 to 10 seconds long.
Sprint start - 1st player will start with a 5 yard advantage from the 2nd player. When the first player is ready to go they will sprint to the end cone as fast as they can will player 2 chasing. The first player can check and fake to go to try get away from 2nd player. When players finish at the top walk back recovery then switch
Diagonal Sprint - Players will sprint diagonally from cone to cone going around them. Once players get to the top it will be a walk back recovery
Speed box - Players will start at the bottom left hand cone. The player will sprint to the first cone then go backwards to the starting cone. Once back to the starting cone the player will then sprint diagonally across to the top right hand cone. When at the top the player will go backwards to the bottom right cone then finish with a sprint through the middle.
Y Drill - Players will start at the bottom cone and sprint to the top cone were the coach is standing at. The player will then decelerate and go backwards to the middle cone in a jockeying motion. When the coach feels the time is right they will pick a side for the player to then react and sprint to (right or left).
Players will go once round each station without a ball working for 2 minutes with a 45 second rest inbetween.
Coaching Points
When performing the excercise the players are asked to give 100%.
Looking for a quick reaction when starting the exercise along with fast acceleration.
When going around the cones the players are to shorten their steps and get low to then use the power in the legs to explode out to the next cone.
How quick the player can deccelerate is also improtant for when it comes to changing direction or reacting again to changes.
