Technical Activity (15 mins)

Instructions:

- Opposite player checks half the distance to initiate a vertical pass, the receiving player makes contact with the ball at the earliest moment and then controls and passses to their left side. Both players rotate to the right. This pattern repeats with the opposite side checking, receiving and playing to their left. 

  • Progression- Alternate the direction of the passing, challenge players to play one touch.

Coaching Points (With the ball)

1. Technical activity that forces players to receive/ pass when on the move. 

2. Challenges players to be efficient but also accurate. 

3. Shorten time between the touches.

Counter Press - Transfer Game (20 mins)

Instructions:

3 x teams of 5-6 players, two small goals outside the middle channel. 5 v 2  - Possession teams can play across whenever they can (must be under knee height) for a point. Defending team when wins the ball looks to score in the mini goals for a point. Both attacking teams immediately counter press. 

90 sec reps, each team plays the defenders role 

Progression- To get out of the middle you must score in mini goal

Coaching Points (With the ball)

1. Recognize the forward pass

2. Keep composed and move opponent by moving the ball to create a forward pass

3. Counter press quickly to win the ball back or deny the opposition scoring

4. Attacking balance - Opposite attacking team, be in a position to be able to receive a pass or support the ball recovery

Coaching points (without the ball)

1. Press quickly / read the play

2. Communicate and make the play predictable

3. Recognize the moment to win the ball

4. Disrupt first and then counter attack

Conditioned Game (20 mins)

Instructions:

9v9 Game to reversed goals, no offside

7 min x 3 

Progression- To get out of the middle you must score in mini goal
