In 2v2 encourage defenders to stay on respective side regardless of what the offense does. Lots of communication, and discipline
- one defends, other is backup to the pressure. Ignore second player until ball is played. You NEVER leave your wingman!
- pressure player sets feet to push attacker towards their teammate. Condense the attack! Don't let attack spread defenders apart. Strength in the unit.
Patience. Wait for mistake to pounce. No Diving in

3v3
Red defends Blue. 10 min then switches out. Defenders focus on shrinking attack and back one another up. By dropping back and at an angle from pressure defender, they ensure attacker cannot pass to penetrate to other goals.
Attackers can move into other channels, but coach ensure offside is enforced to ensure defenders stick to the gameplan. Defenders stay in their respective channels. Adjusting depending on which channel has the ball

1v1 defending
1v1's in 20x20 square with goals at each corner. Blue team passes out to red then moves to defend the attacker from scoring on their goal. Then second line of Blue does same, alternating. 5 minutes, then switch with Red defending.
Coaching points:
- Defender closes distance quickly to prevent penetration
- Defender then positions body (staggered feet, pushing player to weak foot, knees bent, ready to move back towards their own goal (delay/ with control and restraint) No diving in! Be patient!
- Encourage physicality. Contact with opponent is necessary once attacker commits.
If Defender disposses, they have one three touches to score in opposite goal. Keep score.
