8v8 on half a pitch (subs for both teams). 1-2-3-2 to mimic our 4-3-3 (positions noted). Usual focusses when in possession, but paying attention to getting compact as soon as we lose possession and can't press to regain the ball (not enough players near to press or they have comfortable possession). Focus on denial of the central 3 vertical channels noted by cones on end line and middle of field. When ball travels to wide areas, we shift to occupy those 3 zones (outside, near halfspace & far side outside of 6 yard box). We allow balls to travel to wide areas and shift quickly.
Instruction points :
- drop off and get compact when opposition have comfortable possession.
- occupy 3 middel zones when ball is central, or 3 zones nearest to ball when in wide areas
- look to attack and combine quickly after regaining possession
- play into forward players quickly, support then play behind (similar to pattern earlier)

10v10 with big goals at top of penalty areas. Reinforcing of same points : compactness, quick attacking and combination play, now talk about zonal marking in midfield, don't follow the ball, etc.
Instruction points :
- drop to mid block when in comfortable possession
- far side winger tucks in to become 4th midfield player
- striker cuts field in half
- attack & combine quickly after regain (win it, share it, support it, score it)
