Instructions:
- Blue team has numerical advantage to attempt to score on Red team; encourage
attacking team to advance ball into the attacking 1/3 as quickly as possible and use the flanks to create
2v1 opportunities
- Red team can win the ball and keep possession with 5 consecutive passes for 1
point or attempt to score on target goal
- Regular LOTG apply
- Restarts from Blue team goalkeeper
- Switch players to allow them opportunities to attack and defend
Progression:
1. Alternate starting point to provide players with various challenges.
2. Attacking team must have all their players in the attacking half for a goal to count
3. Crosses from the flank leading to a goal = 4 points
4. Red team wins the ball and counter attacks on target goal = 3 points if goal is scored
Coaching Points:
1. All coaching points from the session - focus on individual/group attacking principles throughout the final game.
2. Overall missed opportunities for a quick attack on the flank into zone 4
3. Forwards not making or missed timing runs to receive a ball from the flank in zone 4

Flank Play - Attacking Patterns
Organization:
-create grid as shown in diagram

Instructions:
-Red Team is attacking 9v6 (2CB, 2FB, 2MID (#8/10), 2WG & 1CF) vs Blue Team (1GK, 4DEF & 2MID)
-Red Team attacks large goal & Blue Team scores on mini-goals
-Red team will have a 2v1 numerical advantage in flanks/channels
-Red team will work on both options #1 & #2. Start with #1 where the CB/DM plays to FB who then has a 2v1 overload, CB/DM joins in centrally
-Encourage CB/DM to restart quickly after the ball goes out of play to ensure a high tempo is achieved throughout.
Progressions:
-Option #2 CB/DM plays to FB who plays into CF feet. CF can either set FB or try play WF in.

-attacking team has to create a goal scoring opportunity quickly (5-10 seconds)
Coaching Points:
Challenge Red players how they can utilize the attacking principles penetration, support, width/depth, mobility, and creativity/improvisation to quickly penetrate the blue team defence and progress the ball into zone 4 on the flank.
