Teaching the Technique - Driven Pass/Shot
Groups of 2-3 players. Distance of 15-20 yards. Players will strike driven passes over the target cone to teammate.
Part A - stationary ball
Part B - moving ball
Part C - short, short long driven pass
Coaching Points
1. Technique of driven pass:
a. Angle of approach is slightly off-center
b. Head up to see target
c. Plant foot next to ball (balance)
d. Eyes on center of ball during contact
e. Strike ball with laces
f. Body weight forward, chest & knee over ball
g. Follow through is low, landing on kicking foot
2. Accuracy/Pace and Time (getting ball to teammate quickly)
3. Keep ball head-height or below

Part A - Messi touches (using outside of pinky toe); CP: quick, short touches for close control under pressure
Part B - Ronaldo touches (using laces); CP: quick, short touches for close control under pressure
Part C - Xavi touches; CP: burst of speed to escape defender/create space
Part D - Shadow Pay - in groups of 2-3 each player will dribble own ball. One player will lead and the other(s) will follow. Leader tries to loose followers by dribbling using the skills that have acquired.
