Organization: Two grids with cones inside (Blue Cones: One less than players inside grid). On the side of the grids that face each other place a gate at opposite sides of the respective grid.
Instructions:
-Begin in first gear: A slow jog
-Then move into second gear: A run
-Push them into third gear: As fast as the player can dribble
-Let players rest after doing a few progressions through the gears, it wares them out quickly.
-On your command, say "Switch Fields", the players should dribble through the yellow gates of their grid and enter through the other grid in between that grids yellow gate as well. Continue through the progressions again. Keep Switching the fields.
Coaching Points:
-Keep your head up to avoid running into the defender cones/other teammates/or out of the grid.
-Keep the ball close to your foot to avoid running into the defender cones/other teammates/or out of the grid.
-Use different cuts or moves to avoid the defender cones and other teammates.
Progressions: Not much with pregressions. Make sure the boys get water breaks and rest, do it short bursts, 1-2 minutes.

Organization: One mini goal on the 18, the other at the half way line. Playing area is from the 18 to the halfway line.
Instructions: 2v2, First to score two goals stays on, or after two minutes the teams are replaced.
Coaching Points:
-Are we keeping our heads up?
-What are our options to create space? as the ball carrier AND the second attacker?
-Are we communicating?
Progressions:
-Begin with normal playing rules
-Later put restrictions like you can only pass sideways or backwards, NOT forward. It encourages dribbling.

Coaching Points:
-Keep your head up to avoid defenders and look for teammates.
-Keep the ball close to your foot when dribbling
-Look for the space to penetrate
-Be strong on the ball
Progressions:
-Same as with the 2v2, let it be simply at first then add restrictions such as only pass sideways and backwards.let them play quick two minute games

Sharks and Minnows (10 mins)
Organization: Large grid, taking up most of the penalty bos and midfield. Can vary depending on # of players and their size/ability
Instructions: Designate yourself, or a player to begin as the shark (defender without a ball). The "safe zones" are in between the blue cone line and back red cone line behind that blue line. Players can start anywhere in their safe zone and on my command have to dribble, past the shark, to the other safe zone. If your ball is taken by the shark you then become a shark as well. Last man standing wins
Coaching Points:
-Keep your head up to stay aware of the defender ("shark")
-Keep the ball close to you
-Dribble with the pinky toe of each foot.
-Can we use different touches at different times to manuver around our shark?
Progressions:
1. Maybe first you have the shark with a ball in his hand, and he must hit the minnows ball out of the grid to turn that minnow into a shark.
2. Then you could have the shark without a ball trying to poke or block tackle
Why do I have the grid set up like this (going north to south or goal to goal)? to get players used to dribbling and penetrating towards the goal in the attacking third.
