Divide team in half, playing field sized appropriate to number of players and/or age. Smaller is harder.
Coach passes a ball into the square.
Once a Blue player has the first touch, a Red player sprints around the outside from gate 1.
When he reaches gate 2 he enters the square and starts trying to win the ball.
When the first player reaches gate 2, the next Red player starts sprinting around to enter the square also.
The Blue team try to get as many passes as possible before being tackled.
Play stops when the Red team win the ball.
Coach Counts the passes, then the teams swap.
Progressions:
Make Two-Touch inside the square
Shorten/lengthen the distance between the two gates.
.
Key Points:
Team in possession need to make the area as big as possible, and they need to pass and move rather than standing still.
Defending team needs to communicate and work together once more than 1 defender is in the square.

Organization:
Set team up in 3-5 (turns into a 5-3 on defense) against a 3-2
Activity: Defense plays the ball out of the backfield, outside defenders get up field once team is in position look to score into mini goals or to play available midfielders. All players must open to pass and move as a unit across field. Center 3 should stay in support of each other, if one makes a run midfield should drop into defensive covering spot.
Offensive players try to win the ball and shoot on goal.
Coaching Points:
Stress moving as a unit, support of other players, open to pass, willingness to play the ball back, good first touch and know options, if inside play is not open turn the ball outside and play, communication is key.
Outside players must immediatley drop if ball is lost to recovery position.
