AREA OF THE FIELD
Middle 1/3 to final 1/3
SESSION OBJECTIVE
Address team's transition from attacking to defending. Improve ability of 7,9,11,10 to work together and win the ball immediately after losing it in final 1/3 (working the front).
MANAGING THE OPPOSITION IN TRAINING
Gaurantee success with limited opposotion at first. Progress to game pressure. Red 2&3 do not defend.
TEAM TACTICAL PRINCIPLES
Deny veritcal penetration. Win the ball back immediately. Disallow opponent to gain tempo and rhythm. Immediate pressure on the ball. Vertical and horizontal compactness.
ORGANIZATION:
Half fiedl. 2 teams. 2 full size goals.
Blue team attacks in a 4v3 to start. Red team looks to counter in a 5v4 by using set wingers (2 & 3). Play throw-ins and corners like a game. Continue play with same players until a goal is scored or ball goes over end line. 5 minute rounds then switch sides.1 minute of rest in between rounds. 2 rounds per team (4 rounds total).
Red team looks to always build out of the back and score. Key on transition is to use the 2 & 3 who should start high and wide in fixed positions. The 2 & 3 are only play when Red is in possession; they are not allowed to defend.
COACHING POINTS
Immediate pressure on the ball (try to break up in 6 seconds or less than 3 passes).
Organize quickly if we cannot win the ball back.
Body control - no diving in.
Read the game-pay attention to attacker's body. Head up vs head down.
Be disciplined and do your job. Trust your teammates will do theirs.
Weakside players tuck in and make the field small.

6v6 w/GKs. 3 team tournament. Progress to 7v7 if numbers allow. Red team will incorporate a 7 &11. Blue team will incorporate a 4 & 5. Team on the outside has 1 touch. Games are 4 minutes long or first team to 2 goals.

ORGANIZATION:
18 x 26 yds. 2 teams.
Blue team attacks in a 5v3 to start (2 target players make it directional). If Blue team loses the ball, they must apply pressure right away and win it back before Red can connect 3 passes (6 second rule). If Red is able to connect 3 passes, they get a goal. After 4 minutes, swtich team with numerical superiority. 1 minute rest between rounds. Winner is decided after 2 rounds per team (4 rounds total). 20 minutes.
