Football/Soccer Session (Beginner): GK Session: Out of Possession Actions

Description

Session Objective: 

• work on player distances, positioning and body shape  

• develop decision-making skills

• communicate effectively.

- Set up with a goalkeeper and three defenders inside the penalty area. Two attackers on the edge of the area and two wingers wide. Aim for the attacking team is to score from crosses into the box or from build up play. The defenders and goalkeeper should move to defend the area. If there is a goal, the defenders clear, or the goalkeeper gains possession, play restarts. Avoid repetition by playing the ball to a player on the edge of the area and encouraging them to create an opportunity. Encourage communication and decision making from the defending team. The goalkeeper should be scanning their area as the ball is moving in order to alter their defenders positioning as needed
