Warm Up (15 mins)

6 cone drill, appx 10 yards wide and 25 yard long

2 checks towards 1, 1 passes to 2 then starts a run

2 sets the ball back to 3

4 opens up to receive, 3 plays to 4 and then 3 starts a supporting run

4 squares the ball for 1 to shoot / pass to GK

Coach

Speed of play, and runs off the ball.

2 and 4 creating space to receive

Curved run from 1 to receive for shot

Shoot across the goal.

P.1 remove cones from 2 and 4, so central midfielders movement is more realistic

p.2 Change passing pattern, to miss out first line of support. Pattern would be:

1 plays 4 and makes run forward, 4 sets back to 2 as 3 starts an overlapping run

2 plays 3 for a shot across goal. 1 follows up / supports

iv) #10 - #9 - # 11 in space with #3 trailing; #9, #8 & #7 attack the goal; #11 cuts ball back, #3 crosses

ADV, Have two defenders on the edge of the box mark players / defend crosses.

 Coaching Points

1) Combination Play: Do the players combine well and game like to get the ball into the channel?

2) Quality of Movement: Do attacking players curve their runs and attack the box at speed and purpose? Would they loose defenders BEFORE meeting the cross?

3) Quality of Finish: Can players redirect crosses on target? Can they do this 1-touch? Do they force the GK to make a save? Ratio of shots on goal: GOALS?
