The Offside Rule

  • If Player A, attacking goal, passes to Player B, then Player B is offside. This is because player B is standing BEHIND the last non-GK player (that is, the defenders) at the moment that pass from Player A is executed

No Offside

  • In this example, Player B is no longer offside. This is because player B is now standing in front (or same line) as the LAST field player from the Red team.

No Offside

  • In this example, Player B is not offside DESPITE receiving behind the defenders. The reason for this, is because when the pass was executed by Player A (that is when she made contact with the ball and ball left the foot), Player B was BEHIND the last defenders, and ran into the open space.
  • The key aspect here is: where was Player B, when the pass was made from Player A.
