Positiong Game
Set up. 40m x 30 m 9v7 (7v7 with 2 bouncers)
Game Rules. Two bouncers to remain central - instrtruct each team to man mark the bouncers.
10 passes = 1 goal. Both bouncers must be part of those ten passes for a goal to count. Make them keep score.
Reinforce scanning, off ball movemten and good descision making. Ask them "where is the space" and can we switch play to open space?
If the ball goes out of play coach to play in to opposite side.
Focus on the two bouncers holding up, protecting the ball, and releasing with a good decision and technique.
Use the players that will play through those roles - Jerome, Stevie, Jordy, Michael, Adrian, Speedy.
Rotate regularly so they all get an opportunity.
Progressions - Check area size, Make larger if too challanging, smaller if too easy.
Limit number of touches to 2 or 3 if not moving the ball quick enough - or set a time limit to get the ten passes in.
The game training then becomes a progression of these techniques.

Game training.
SETUP -Half pitch with 8v8 Defending side is goalkeeper, 2,3,4,5,6,8 & 10 formation 1(goalkeeper)-4-3
Attacking team 3,4,6,7,8,9,10 & 11. formation 2-3-3. So it is an 8v7 to the attacking sides benefit on the pitch.
Rules : 3 or 4 play in for the blue team. They attempt to score. If red wins the ball they have 15 seconds to score through the two small goals on the half way line. If ball goes out of play, restart again from the half way line. Restarts are always by the blue team from the opposite side as the last restart.
I would prefer an organized defence, so let the defence reset before restarts, but if intensity is lacking, we will work on a disorganized defence and restart immediately. that will lift intensity immediately.
SESSION OBJECTIVE - Our objective is to utilize our 9 to create goal scoring opportunities.
Team Task : The team task is to use Jerome (No.9) to create goal scoring opportunities.
Player tasks / cues.
No. 9 - When the ball is being moved forward, can you lose you marker to create space and time to play the ball.
No.9 - If tightly marked, can you protect the ball and find a teammate.
9, 7 & 11 - Before receiving the ball, can you scan - and if there is space behind your marker (no spare man defensive cover) can you turn your opponent to get a goal scoring opportunity.
6,8, & 10 - When we enter our attacking third, can you make a diagonal run to receive the ball in good position, or to drag an opponent out of position to create space for a teammate. Explain sacrificing your run (knowing you won't get it) to create space for teammates - demonstrate how a run will force a defender to make a decision - follow you or stay with his man. Reinforce the lack of off ball running we display.
10 - When coming forward, can you bounce 9 and then look to play 7 or 11 in behind the defence.
10 - After bouncing 9, can you 1-2 again with 9 to play him in behind if the original bounce pulled his marker out of position.
10 - After bouncing 9, can you set up 6 or 8 , who has made a good run, with the opportunity to shoot from the edge of the box.

Training Game
8v8 Full sized goal with a keeper one side. Small goal with no keeper at half way line.
Red 4 - 2 -1 Blue 2 - 3 -3
Play Jerome as the 9 for the blue and instruct the blue team to see if they can channel their attacks through him.
Reinforce what the session objective is.
Try not to intervene and see if the playing behaviour has been modified by the session. Ty only to coach on the run and let the game flow.

Passing Practice
FOOTBALL PROBLEM : When bringing the ball into our attacking third we are not utilizing our 9 to create goal scoring opportunities.
SESSION OBJECTIVE : TO UTILIZE OUR No.9 TO CREATE GOAL SCORING OPORTUNITIES.
In this session our aim is to improve our passing combinations, with our 9 either playing with his back to goal and bouncing our advancing midfielders, or combining with our two wide forwards to change the angle of attack and seperate the back 4.
Session planned for 16 players.
PASSING PRACTICE.
SETUP - Half pitch with cones as shown. Passing starts on the left hand side with 5 to 6, 6 to 11, 11 to 10, 10 bouncing off 9 to play to the feet of 1. 1 plays out to 2 who runs with the ball back to the half way line.
Players follow their pass, except 11 goes to 9, and 9 goes to 10.
Then follow exactly the same from the right hand side.
Players waiting to start on 4 or 5 to include dynamic stretching.
Focus. Solid passing technique, ankle locked, no bouncing , bobbling balls.
Get players to check off the cones. Make sure players are moving when they recieve the ball. Make sure that pass is played into the correct area, not behind the run of the player.
Reinforce scanning as we do not scan properly or often enough.
Increase intensity of the run of 2 & 3 once players are warmed up, a sprint down the line at that stage with good ball control.
Progression. Introduce passive defenders to either block passing lanes or man mark the 9.
Rotate players through the defensive positions.
Introduce shooting, leave Luke in goals and the ten goes to the 2 or 3 after his shot.
Make sure the shooting focus in on accuracy.
