Warm Up- 1 (10 mins)

Set Up:

  • Players: 11
  • Grid size: 7m between each cone

Explanation:

  • Players will be split up into groups of three.
  • The players on the end will begin with the ball.
  • The first pass will be played into the player in the middle.
  • Upon receiving the ball the player is to make a half turn.
  • The player in the middle then plays a pass to the player on the opposite end.
  • The middle player then opens up onto the other side and receives from that player.
  • Continue for approximately 2mins each then swap players and the foot being used.

  • Can you scan before receiving the ball
  • Can you take your touch with the inside of your foot
  • Can you play on a minimum amount of touches
  • Can you see your opponent and your next pass
  • Can you play forward

Warm Up- 2 (15 mins)

Set Up:

  • Players: 11

Explanation:

  • Players will be split into an outside and inside group.
  • Players on the outside will start with the ball.
  • Players on the inside are to find a player on the outside and receive a pass.
  • When receiving the ball, players on the inside should half turn and find another player on the outside.
  • Swap roles after 2 minutes.

Progression:

  • 3 touches maximum.

Skill Training (25 mins)

Set Up:

  • Players: 11
  • Grid size: 30m x 15m

Explanation:

  • 4v4+3
  • The aim of the game is to get from one side to the other.
  • Utilising a narrow grid will initiate more half turns.
  • All players are on a maximum of three touches, except the outside player who are on two touches.
  • Once the ball gets from one end to the other it counts as two points, if they get it from end to end in successive goes it counts as three points.
  • Swap roles after 3-4 minutes.

Progression:

  • Add an additional inside box where the middle bouncer is restricted.
