Organization:
- Create 5 lines of cones that are all 3 cones in length with 5 yards between each cone
- Place players in pairs or 3's and have them line up behind a set of cones
Activity
- The players will take part in relay races looking at different movements, changes of direction.
- The players may be asked to run to the first cone and back, hop to a different cone, run backwards, run through the cones in different patterns.
- All movements will be focused on the players developing physical literacy skills
Progression
- Each player will have a ball and complete relay races with the ball at their feet.
- The first few races should focus on getting to any cone and back and learning to keep the ball under control.
- To progress, ask the players to turn with different parts of their feet when they get to the cones. Some players will be able to do this and some wont.
This will be a fun warm up and through giving the teams points for the winners will create a sense of competition also. There will be cheating at this age and so keep and eye out for it and reward those players that are doing the exercise fully. Keep it fun!

Organization
- Players in pairs line up opposite eachother in the middle of a 20x30 box
- One ball between the pair

Activity
- The players are numbered 1-2, and stand opposite each other on their toes
- On the coaches call of a number the number that he calls spins and attempts to get to the line behind them before the opposite number can beat them to it.
- Whichever player makes it first gets the point
- To make it more fun for the players you can have them starting in different positions, or can only use certain movements to get to the lines.
Progression
- Each player starts with a ball and when the numbers is called they have to dribble to the line. The opposite number can get 1 point by beating them to the line or go for 2 by kicking their ball off their oppositions ball.
Progression
- When the players number is called they attempt to get to their partners line with the ball. The partner must leave their ball and attempt to steal from their team mate.
This warm up is a fun way to get your players ready for the game and energized. The activity is focused on developing quick reaction speeds with and without the ball.

- Give the players 4-5 practices
- Make it competitive and give each player 3 points, coins, lives to start with. Each time they are in the last 2 back to the middle line they lose a point
- Manage the game so that there is never a player that gets to 0 and all continue to play
- Ask the players at the end of 3 minutes how many coins they have
Progression
- All calls are opposite
Progression
- Add the ball in with players doing different ball manipulations when in line.
The focus for this warm up is to have fun, get a little energy going in the session and develop the players physical literacy. We are looking to see if players are able to jump with two feet, bend down and get back up quickly, land and change direction etc.

Organization
- 20 x 30 area
- Place 2 lateral markings at the 10 yard and 20 yard line of the area
- A defender starts on each of the lateral lines
- All the attackers start at one end
Activity
- The players attempt to get through both lines without being tagged by the defenders
- If they are tagged they join the defender on the line that they were tagged
- The last runner without being tagged is the winner
Progression
- The players are given a ball and have to then get past the defenders on the lines without losing possession
This activity is focused on changes of speed and direction, fakes and disguises, and most of all fun. We should be encouraging players to be creative in how they beat the defenders, tactical in helping others and to enjoy playing the game.

touches of the soccer ball as they perform the techniques.
The focus of this session is to encourage the players to be aware of the space and players around them as they dribble the ball. As coaches we should be asking the players what kind of touches they need to be successful and how they would react if their path was crossed.
