Structured Build up Play - Beat the Press

Organisation:
- Set up as shown in diagram, 8v6 rondo
- Ball always begins with the team in possession
- Team in possession must play vertically and then horizontally to achieve 1 goal and an additional 1 goal for achieving 10 passes
- Defenders, in this case blue must remain in their zones and press the ball to win possession. Once they have won possession they can score in any of the 4 mini goals for 1 goal.
- Rotate players as required.
Coaching Points:
- Create angles to support and receive the ball
- Passing quality to maintain possession
- Exploit overloads
- Defending team to force play to one side so it becomes predicable.
Progressions:
- Allow Yellow in the middle to swap zones to confuse the defenders.
- One defender can go through two different zones to help defend.

Organisation:
- Set up as shown in diagram, 8v7 set up in a 433
- Two wide zones for yellow fullbacks to operate in.
- Objective is for yellows to build out from the back and beat opposition press by using wide or central areas.
- If yellows connects 10 passes equals 1goal
- Objective of Pink is to press as soon as the ball is live and win the ball back and score.
- If Pink win the ball back they can use all areas of the pitch to combine and score.
- Only one Pink is allowed in the wide areas to press at a time.
- If Pink score =2 goals, must score within 10sec.
Coaching Points:
- Role of keeper to control play
- Draw opponent in to play through or around
- Don't force play, can reset and build again
- Maintain positions as you would in the game
- Create angles to support and receive the ball
- Passing quality to maintain possession
- Exploit overloads
Progressions:
- Allow as many of the defending team (Pink) out into wide areas to press and win the ball
- Attacking team (yellow) can rotate one player in and out of wide zone to confuse the opposition.
- Attacking team (yellow) can rotate one player in and out of central zone to confuse the opposition.
- Add punishment for losing team.

Organisation:

- Run fir 2min sets then rotate players.
