Organization:
5 x 10 area. Yellow gates scattered throughout. All players in the grid with a ball.
Instructions:
1 means toe touches.
2 means boxes.
Players dribble around, and then coach shouts out 1 or 2, and have to perform the skill that is associated with the specific number. (5 mins)
Following that, add yellow gates around the grid. Have the players perform a skill move through the gate to get a point. At the end, whoever has the most points, wins.
Coaching Points/Questions:
Making sure head is up when dribbling. Being aware of the space around the field. Concentration and focus.
What is a skill move we can use to beat a defender?
When and where would we use these moves?
How can we make sure we do not run into each other?
Regressions/Progressions:
If it is too easy, have them use weak foot. Deduct points if they run into each other, hit someone else's ball.
If it is too hard, add amount of gates. Make field bigger. Just dribble through gates instead of skill move.
