5 Minute Cross-Cage Movement Incorporating Aerials: Similiar to the opening footwork drill...now just add a field-player or coach feeding aerial shots for the goalkeeper to save. Have the goalkeeper alternate between starting at each post. Prompt them by saying "Go." Each goalkeeper should get 6 balls before rest or rotation. Make sure to alternate placement and speed of shots. Coaching Points: Goalkeepers should be attacking the ball on a foward angle when making contact. Avoid cross-body movements when making aerial saves with blocker or hand guard. Be set and balanced when the attacker is making contact with the ball.

5-10 Minute Clearing Gate Work: Incorporating the same footwork as the first two segments, golkeepers should now utilize efficient footwork to execute powerful and accurate clears. Coaches should continue to monitor body mechanics of goalkeepers (hand placement, hip movements, square GK pads to the shooter). Each goalkeeper will have 6 balls and be aiming for the cone gates when making contact with the ball. Each GK should keep track of their score throughout the drill. The most ideal clear garners 5 points (the lowest gate). The second clearing gate will give the GK 1 point. If they clear it up the middle, they recieve zero points. If the coach or field player scores on the GK, they lose 5 points. Coaching Points: This drill rewards solid footwork, powerful clear technique, and accuracy. Make sure to highlight body mechanics and follow-through of movement to create an accurate and powerful clear. Continue to watch hand placement and hip movements. Make sure that they are using the efficient footwork that they started the training session with. Make sure GK is set for the shot. Make sure the GK is on angle for the shot. If they are not - walk them through the proper footwork to get on angle. Losers clean up after the drill.

Footwork (5 mins)
5 Minute - Cross-cage Agility Work: Have goalkeeper start on post. Complete footwork following the dotted-line pattern. Alternate starting on each post. Have the goalkeeper go through the cross-cage movement for 1 minute x 4 reps. 15 seconds off between reps. Coaching Points: Hands in a comfortable and balanced position, composed body movement when on each post and when coming up to the stroke mark. Square hips and pads to each set mark. Make sure the goalkeeper is square on the post when they finish each set. Getting hips and feet under to avoid "round-about" or inefficient tracking.
