Passing session with emphasis on switching the play/changing the point of attack
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Switching the play
Set up playing area vertically into thirds. Two teams of two in the middle third, one vs one in outer third.
Teams attempt to score in either of the goals they are facing, but goals can only be scored from the wide channels.
To start with, players must stay in the third in which they start the practice.
Coaching points-
Encourage players to play quick passes to get the ball to the wide players as quickly as possible. Focus my attention as a coach on the mechanics (Firm ankle, looking at target)
In 1 v 1 situations in wide channels encourage players to use different moves to beat their opponent when in wide areas before finishing.
Communication to reinforce our social pillar. Players need to talk to each other giving good information such as "Start again" "Switch it" "Reset"
Progression- One attacker from middle third can join in with the attack in wide area to form a 2 v 1
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
The defending team should occupy only two of the three channels.
Encourage the attacking team to maintain width across all three thirds when they’re in possessionWhichever team is in possession should try to create space and overloads in wide areas through quick switches of play.If the defending team wins the ball back, they should look to play forward and score as quickly as possible.Condition of defenders to be locked into 2/3rds is to encourage quick attacking play and switches by attacking team.

Technical - Warm up game (10 mins)
Fun arrival/warm up game to get players prepared for our skill practice
Passing tennis
Players in pairs against another pair on opposite. Play starts by player 1 (red) passing the ball to player 1 (blue)
Player 1 (blue) sets the ball with a first time touch to his teammate player 2 (blue) who will then pass to player 2(red)
Ball must go into oppositions box, if it does not the opposing team win a point. If a players first touch is outside the box, a point is lost and given to opposition.
Really good game to get players competitive and focusing on their passing mechanics (Looking at target, foot beside the ball, striking the ball, firm ankle, following through etc)
Progress the practice if too easy by making players play off one touch. Alternating players must pass the ball to each other in the game.
