1. Warm-up and tech/tact practice (7+3 v 4) (30 mins)
Warm-up and dynamic stretches (7-10 mins)
- Reds on outside have 1 ball and pass in patterns of play
- Greens on inside have a ball and play passive 4v3 keep away from inside reds (just pressure, no tackle)
- Perform Range of Dynamic Stretches
Tech/Tact Practice (20/25 mins)
- Reds have possession of the ball and keep it from greens, with the help of the 3 inside reds (Your midfield 3) - If greens win it, they just play it back to the reds for now. Change greens every 4-5 mins.
Progressions
- When greens win the ball in the centre, they then play 4v3 against the centre reds - Reds must work hard to win and play back to the outside again.
- Keep Score - Every time the ball goes from #4 or #5 into the #9 (Must go through 6, 8 or 10) = 1 goal
- #6 and #8or10 MUST play 2 touch max when recieving from the outside
- (only if they are really good at this game) DOUBLE GOALS - for same game as above, but now the #9 bounces off the #10 - who can play out to #7 or #11 and back into #9
Coaching points
- Speed and accuracy of passes (back foot/front foot?)
- Ability to recieve on front foot and play forward - Recieve on half-turn - Receive on back foot
- Good communication habits - left/right shoulder turn
- Timing of runs from midfield - if they don't get it - spin away
- General awareness of midfield players - checking shoulders, first touch away from pressure etc.
