Skill introduction

In this exercise, set up agility posts in a square formation to form 4 goals.

Have a GK in between each set of posts and with other playerson the outside of the area (the size of the area and goals will depend on your age group - make as relevant to the game as possible)

The players (red) on the outside are asked to shoot frequently by "finishing" past the GK.

A shot should carry through to the other side for another player to have another shot. Keep the game flowing and encourage players to pass past the keeper.

Change keepers often and give players a go at both roles.

For this session its recommended that you use the relevant size goals for your team. If small sided goals, use 2 side by side with a GK in each. The distance between markers to goal will also vary on your teams age and ability.

Divide the teams into 4 even teams. One team will start as defenders and start on the cones nearst goal. The other team will attack and start on the markers furthest from the goal.

On coaches signal / call the defenders must pass the ball to there relevant attacker. The attacker then must try to finish past the GK while the original passer attempts to block the shot.

The attacker then joins the defence while the defender runs to the attacking side.

After a set time, swao sides to encourage left and right foot shooting.

In a small area approx 30x30 have 2 equal teams play against each other with the emphasis being on finding a bit of space and have a shot. Ensure players are trying to finish as opposed to power shots.

Have spare balls in each goal.
