1v1 Recovery Run Practice. 


Set up:

  • Set up as shown above with players positioned evenly beside the goals. 
  • Practice begins with 1st Red player dribbling forward unopposed and shooting. 
  • Once their shot has been taken, the 1st Blue dribbles forward and looks to score in the opposite goal.
  • The Red player looks to recover quickly and look to stop the Blue player from Scoring. 
  • Practice continues like this, as soon as the Blue player has shot, the 2nd Red will run with the ball towards the goal.
  • Once a player has defended they go around the pitch and back to their starting position.

Each goal scored = 1 Point.

Animation 3

  • As seen in the animation, players must recover quickly to press the opposition. 
  • Players attacking must look to be direct to not allow the defender to deny them. 
  • Players attacking must decide when to shoot, as going too close to the goal will mean they have further to recover, but shooting from too far means they may not hit the target. 
  • As seen above, one of the Red players shoots and scores from further out, meaning they are in a good position to defend against the next Blue.
  • They are able to win the ball and counter attack quickly to score.
