Passing & Receiving:
Equipment: Balls, bibs, Poles.
Area: 30mtr x 20mtr - 2 areas marked out.
Animation One:
Pass out to FB and follow, pass into CM and follow, pass to CF with a 1 - 2 around the end pole and follow, dribble back to the starting point.
Coaching Points: Movement off the pole to create a passing angle - movement should be late and quick - receive on the back foot - firm pass
Animation Two:
Pass into CM and take place of FB - FB to make a run under the CM to receive a pass - CM passes to CF who plays a 1 - 2 around the pole with the supporting CM.
Animation Three and Four: A defender is added to block the passing lane to either the FB or CM - players need recognise this and make the correct pass using the passing sequence of either Animation 1 or Animation 2.
Further progression: Add a 2 defender to man mark the CM - The CM needs to make movement to occupy the marker - The first defender still only closes of the passing lanes, if the FB is closed off, play into the CM - who can either play it back to the CB who is supporting or play it wide to the FB who plays it to the CF who plays a 1-2 around the pole with the supporting CM.
If the first defender closes the passing lane to the CM, the CB plays the ball to the FB who plays a through ball to the CF who plays a 1-2 with the supporting CM.
Further Progression 2: The first defender can now close down the FB and recover, the man marker on the CM no longer man marks and can try and cut out the passing lanes, or, stay man marking, decision is the defender on what he wants to do.
Coaching points: Decision making of players on the ball - movement to create passing options - correct weight of pass and accuracy of pass - passing to the correct foot (back foot) - correct angle of support to enable 1-2's to be played.
