Awareness and decision making. Players need to be able to aware of the ball, opposition, teammates and space to be able to maintain possession and play forward.
Quick passing combinations. When passing the ball, players must use quick combinations to unbalance the opposition, creating gaps to pass through to penetrate and move towards the goal.
Finishing. Players need to be able to finish with quality depending on the space and time available. This could be with a placement or power shot.

Combinations in a tight area (20 mins)
Pitch 44 x 30. 2 x GK zone 10 x 5 8v8 (9v9) + 2GK 20 mins
Making the area tight which will encourage players to think and play quickly.
The team in possession passes the ball to one end (Goalkeeper) to score a goal. If this is successfully done, the team in possession maintains the ball and works the ball in the other direction to the Goalkeeper at the other end of the area. The team keeps the ball until the opposition wins the ball or it goes out of play (replicating a game situation).
Players must keep the ball below 'waist height' to encourage combination play in tight areas.
Coaching Points:
Create space. To improve attacking play, Attackers need to create space for themselves and their teammates with good length, width and depth whilst also being in a position to take their first touch forward.
Passing and support. Players need to be able to see the ball to offer good supporting positions ahead, to the side and behind the ball to offer supporting angles to move the opponent to play forward.
Movement and mobility. Players need to use movement and mobility to rotate between positions whilst also looking to be in a position to play forward or run forward.
