MOTG - We have the Ball (1v1s)
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Organization: Set area per diagram. Create a defenders box approx 5x10 yards, about 20 yards from the net. Goalie plus 6-8 players.
Activity: Attackers line up near centre on a quarter pitch or about 20-25 yards from defenders box. Defenders line up to side of defenders box. First defender in line occupies defenders box, first attacker in line begins attack by running with ball towards defender. Attacker will try to beat defender by running with ball through box to other side where there are allowed to shoot on net. Defenders who must remain in box during attack. If defender wins ball can play outlet pass to next defender or attacker waiting in line. Progression, if defender is beat through box, they are able to give chase outside box only once attacker has exited box.
Coaching Points:
Is attacker able to attack space and defender with control and speed?
Is attacker able to freeze defender by dribbling directly at them?
Can they use speed, footwork, creativity to beat defender?
Are attackers able to display quality and properly weighted touches to get ball behind defender, but inbounds and away from keeper?
Ability to finish.

Dribbling 1v1 - King (Queen) of the Ring (20 mins)
Organization: Create a series of boxes approx 10x12, on both sidelines. 14-18 players
Activity: 2 players will verse each other 1v1 in a box for a time (approx 90 sec), scoring points each time they dribble past opponents base/goal line. Once a player has scored a point, they leave the ball for their opponent and quickly retreat to the middle of the box before they are able to defend their opponent, who will now try to score a point on them. After time has expired, switch partners by shifting winning players to the right and losing players to the left (Players at far right and left do not move). Progression: players score by stopping ball on opponents base/goal line. Last winner in box farthest to right on either side is the king (queen) of the ring
Coaching points:
Can they freeze defender by dribbling directly at them?
Can attacker dribble by keeping ball in close to their feet so ball is readily available to manipulate as defenders reach in or commit?
Are players demonstrating ability to manipulate ball performing moves using all parts of both feet (inside, outside, top, sole)?
Can they use speed, footwork, moves & creativity to beat defender?
Are attackers able to get defenders off balance of leaning the wrong way?
If attacker loses momentum and/or control of ball and has to shield, are they able to, identify which side to turn and beat defender in order to continue attack?
