Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Fullbacks Overlap

Fullbacks Overlap (10 mins)

Method:

• Setup as per Diagram
• 3 stations as shown
• Defending team (Blue) start behind the goal
• extra coach as a server on the end line with a supply of balls

Station 1

• 1 Player A starts by passing to Coach,
• Coach Passes back to Player A and presses the pass
• Player B moves off the cone as the Coach Press Player A
• Player A Passes to Player C
• Player C sets back to Player D and runs inside
• Player D Overlaps
• Player B Attacks the space
• Opposition defenders enter from behind the goal to try win the ball
• If they win the ball they pass up to the Coach that started the practice.
• Player A & B try to combine to score

Station 2

• Once shot is taken Player C dribbles from behind the mannequin to the end line to cross
• Player A and B make diagonal run across the box to try and receive to score

Station 3

• Coach serves a ball to either Player A or B who must react to shoot first time

Coaching Points:

• Dribble at Pace
• Accuracy in the finish – Good technique, eyes on the ball, follow through & strike with the laces
• Good accurate cross
• Opposite movements from Players A&B.
