The Session: Cone Wars
- 2 teams with cones on each side
- Players are trying to knock the opposite team's cones, once they knock a cone they must sprint across the zone & bring it to their side and continue playing.
- Can you get all the other teams cones before time expires?
- Who has the most cones at the end?
- Play for 2-3 min
Progressions:
- Vary distance of cones for different length passes
Key Messages:
Keys before/during/after a pass:
- First touch to get ball where it needs to be in front of you about 1yd.
- Eyes up to see your target and be certain the pass line is open
- Kicking foot: working on locking the ankle, guiding the pass.
- Non-kicking foot: next to ball, pointing at the target
- Movement after the pass to either find a new ball or retrieve the cone you hit

The Session: Shifting the Ball
* Red player in the middle passes the ball to the white player and closes him down.
* The white player receives on the front foot if possible, and aims to dribble past the defender and score in the gates.
* White player aims beat the defender and dribble through one of the coned goals.
Focus on the attacker using one of the following to beat the defender:
- Body feints
- Ball moving to change direction
- Ball static to change direction
- Can players use body feints to deceive the opposition i.e. hips, shoulders, arms?
Passing:
- Approach
- Standing foot
- Ball contact
- Follow through
- Inside of the foot – timing, weight, accuracy, disguise
- Outside of the foot – timing, accuracy, disguise
Rotate after each go so every player does each role.

The Session:
Small Sided Games.
Ensure a high tempo, and it is being done properly, then let them play.
Encourage being brave in 1v1's, and taking players on where possible.

4 TEAMS - If needed / 2 PITCHES - keep lines at 5 or less!
THE GAME:
- ATTACKING TEAM STARTS BY RUNNING AROUND THE MANNEQUIN
- DEFENDER CAN GO TRY TAG ATTACKING PLAYER WHEN ATTACKER PLAYER MAKES FIRST MOVE.
-ATTACKER PLAYER MUST BEAT DEFENDER AND GET THROUGH 1 OF THE 2 GATES.
- IF ATTACKER GETS THROUGH GATE THEY GET THERE TEAM A POINT.
- IF DEFENDER TAGS ATTACKER THEY DONT SCORE A POINT
- AFTER 2 MINS TEAMS SWAP OVER .
- AFTER BOTH TEAMS HAVE ATTACKED AND DEFENDED COUNT THE SCORES
- PROMOTION RELEGATION - if using two grids
