1 v 1 Continuous
Four players in two teams of 2. Start with a red and black in each square, one player with the ball. Object is to dribble in to the other square and give the ball to your partner, cannot transfer the ball to partner until you enter their square. So in the example shown, once black leaves their square with the ball, red from the opposite square leaves to defend. If black is succesful in getting ball to partner, they must quickly return to their own square to act as target player and the new red defender enters the area. If the defender wins the ball they pass to their partner and their team become attackers. Points can only be scored on offence.
Progress to limiting attackers to 15 seconds to reach target square.
Coaching Points:
- Use your momentum - don't stop and face up the defender unless forced to
- Be unpredictable - be willing to go both left and right
- KEEP THE BALL IN YOUR ZONE

1 v 1 to Goal
Two games of Black vs Red; A v B and C v D. Games run simultaneously so now players must think about the position of the players in the other game as well as their own, recognise where the space IS and where it WILL BE. Teams alternate who starts with ball. At the end both black teams and both red teams combine score to see which team wins.
Coaching Points:
- Keep ball in your zone
- Use body language and change of direction to imbalance defender (head/shoulder fakes, step fakes)
- Capitalise on that imbalance by attacking opposite side

1 v 1 Basic (20 mins)
1 v 1
Defender starts at A, attacker starts at C. As attacker starts dribble from C to D, defender runs from A to B and enters area. When attacker gets to D they enter the area. The goal for the attacker is then to cross the red line with the ball under control.
Progress to assigning a specific turn for the attacker to enter the area at D.
Coaching Points:
- Keep the ball in your zone at all times (the area around your feet where you can always touch the ball)
- Imbalance the defender (demonstrate head/shoulder fake)
- Plan ahead - don't wait for and react to defender's approach, dictate play
