Coach feeds the ball into a player at the corner of the pitch, the player is joined by one from the corner closes to them to play against a defender diagonally opposite to the player who received the pass.

Quick restarts after each rep to ensure a high tempo.

x2 players enter from the corner the ball is played to, player not on the ball has to run and touch the post nearest to them before joining play, x1 player enters from the corner closest to where the ball was played.

Overload Wave Game

1v0, 2v1, 3v2, 4v3

Wave game to support exploting overloads in attacking areas. Focus to be on creative runs without the ball to create attacking space, the speed of attack, and decision-making both on and off the ball.

Organisation

Start with 1 (red) on 1 with the goalkeeper. Once attempt is made the red attacker immediately becomes defender of his own goal against 2 blue attackers. This cycle is repeated with attackers and defenders rotating through 2 v 1, 3 v 2, 4 v 3

Condition

Score/shoot in 7 seconds to promote speed of play and forwards on the att. transition

3v3 +1 in the middle third, play start in middle third aim is to make 5 passes using the overload.

On reaching the target, one player can either travel into final third creating 2v1, or play a player moving into the final third again creating 2v1.

Small sided g,me, 5v5 outfield players and two GKs. Focus on exploiting extra player in transition from defence to attack.

 

Organisation

40mx30m pitch with two tall cones placed just outside each flank. 6v6.

Condition

After each shot or goal scored the attacking players sprints to the nearest tall cone. This gives the opposition a 5v4 outfield advantage to quickly exploit overload with a fast ball and transition into attack.

 

Challenge keeper to restart within three seconds. .
