The aim of the set up is to force the attacking team to play backwards and then put pressure on the each player relative to their position.


Each player has a player they are responsible for.

Red 2 - Green 2

Red 3 - Green 3

Red 4 - Green 4

Red 5 - Green 5

Each player MUST stay with their player.

You can see from this diagram that RED 3 HAS put immediate pressure on GREEN 3 blocking a shot and also meaning that any forward pass is risky.

Red 2/4/5 have taken up positions relative to the position of the ball and also to the players they are marking.

Red 3 drops a little to cover 4 but can still deal with Green 3.

Red 2 also moves a little higher to cover Green 2
