Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): 7v7 Practice 9: Defending 1v1, 2v1, 2v2

Arrival Activity (10 mins)

Set up:

Arrival Practice prior to session begining

Organization:

Group is split up into pairs. The game is 1v1 pana. Players score points by scoring a goal or 'megging' the other player.

Coaching Points:

Encourage players who show good defensive qualities.

Skill Development 1 (15 mins)

Set up:

2 Field. Each field is split into 4 teams. Teams will play 1v1 games.

Organization:

A. Red (attack) v White (Defend) | Green (attack) v Yellow (defend)

B. Switch

C. Red vs Yellow | Green vs White

D. (Green and Yello switch sides) Red vs Green | Yellow v White.

Points for attacker if they score 2 points for defender if they win it and te counte lead to a goal.

4 P's of defending (Pressure, Positon, Patience and Power)

Skill Development 2 (15 mins)

Set up:

2 Field. Each field is split into 4 teams. Teams will play 2v2 games.

Organization:

A. Red / Green v White / Yellow

B. Red / White v Yellow / Green

C. Red / Yellow v White / Green

Same point system as before but now bot players get points if succesfull

Coaching Points:

4 P's of defending (Pressure, Positon, Patience and Power)

Role of first and second defender
