Goal: Improve Build out using the #3.
Overview: In this session we are looking to build out using the fullbacks. We are specifically working on our build-up using the #3. This way we should be comfortable building out to the left or right.
Attacking TTP: Spread out, Triangulate the ball, and create a 2v1
Defending TTP: Get compact and keep it compact, Pressure with cover and balance
Who: #1 #5 #3 #6 #11
What: Attacking in the defensive third using the #3
Where: Defensive Third
When: As we are in possession in the defensive third
Why: We want to build out using our left back to progress the ball up the field
Technical Points:
Address the body shape of #3 and #5 of how they receive the ball to more easily progress the ball forward.
Guided Questions:
While we are in possession of the ball what is the first thing we must do as a team? Spread out
In the build what are we trying to create? 1v1s and 2v1s
Player actions:
The #3 and #5 need to receive the ball with their hips open to more easily progress the ball forward.
The #6 needs to check into the space between the #3 and #5 to create 2v1 opportunities
The #11 needs to stay spread out and create width for the team.

Orientation Phase: (15 minutes or however long it takes to bring out the problem)
Activity Description: In this activity, we will only be working on the left side of the field. The reds are the learning team while the blues are the orientation team. The reds will have a #1 #3 #5 #6 #11 and will start with the ball out the back and look to score on the two counter goals. The blues are the orientation team they will have a #2 #7 #9 #10. They are looking to win the ball and score on the big goal.
In the orientation phase, we are working with the blue team.
As the ball gets passed out can the #9 press on an angle to press the center back and to force the play wide out to the left back. As the ball gets to the left back we should be man-to-man all over the field. Using the sideline as an extra defender will also help us defensively and make play predictable.
Guided questions:
How should the striker press? Pressing on an angle to force play wide and to not let them go back to the goalie
As the defensive team, what can we use to help us? The sideline as an extra defender

Learning Phase 35 Minutes:
Activity Description: In this activity, we will only be working on the left side of the field. The reds are the learning team while the blues are the orientation team. The reds will have a #1 #3 #5 #6 #11 and will start with the ball out the back and look to score on the two counter goals. The blues are the orientation team they will have a #2 #7 #9 #10. They are looking to win the ball and score on the big goal.
In the learning phase we are working with the reds now. Since we are working with the #3 we want them to get on the ball in order for us to build up. As the #3 gets the ball can they combine with the #6 or the #11 to create 2v1s on the field. The #6 should be checking in on an angle to help create that 2v1 with the #3. The #11 can help create a 2v1 by starting infield and checking to receive the ball and allowing for the #3 to make a run.
Guided Questions: While we are in possession of the ball what is the first thing we must do as a team? Spread outIn the build what are we trying to create? 1v1s and 2v1s

Implementation Phase (20 Minutes)
In the implementation phase, we are looking to see if we can use what we just learned in a game. When presented in the game can either team build out effectively using their fullbacks? When building up either team to stay spread out and look to use either the #3 or #2 when building up.

Warm UP
Warm-up (15 Minutes)
In the warm-up phase, players will go through their dynamic stretches to start off practice. This should go through all major dynamic stretches throughout their body. 2x repetition per stretch.
In the warmup, we want to play a 3v3 possession game with each team having a #6 #8, and #10. On the outside, we have the #1 and #9 as target players with the #2 and #3 as players on the outside of the grid in order to help progress the ball up the field.
Coaching Points:
The grid needs to be long and narrow to encourage the #2 and #3 to get up and down the field and will encourage players to use them when in possession.
