Composed shooting (15 mins)
Area:
Use quarter of a pitch and set a mannequin or a few poles to create a player. Set up mannequins or poles 3 yards outside the box, each inline with the six yard box line. Put a staring disc, cone or pole in line with the lefft and right lines of the penatly area and 10 yards out.
Equipment:
discs, Cones, poles or mannequins.
Objective:
Split players equally on starting cones. Player dribbles at speed towards the mannequin/poles and perfoem a skill or shift the ball to create a shooting oppotunity. Once they take their touch past the mannequin/poles they have to look up to see the position of the goal keeper. The goal keeper is instructed to stand one side of the goal or the other randomly and the player then shoots to the side of the goal with space. They have to try this at speed so one they take their last touch past the mannequin they have 2 touches and try not to break their stride. They collect their ball and then join the queue. The right side then repeat and join the queue of the left.
Key points:
This practice is aimed to try and improve shooting composure. All the best strikers use speed to get in a shooting oppotunity then manage to slow themselves down to be composed look at the keeper and goal and not rush their shot and choose an area of space. This shooting technique is good for 1 on 1 situations.
