Set Up
Pitch is divided into thirds. The pitch also includes a half way line. In order for the team in possession to score all players must be into the attacking half
Each third is allocated an amount of points. When the defending team wins possession their aim is to counter and score. If they win possession in the 5 point area and score the goal = 5 points. Middle 3rd = 2points, attacking 3rd = 1 point.
Challenges
1. Try to support the attack by being in front of the ball.
2. Try to change the speed of the attack with a 1st time pass
Key Points
*Nearest player press the ball
*Where do I recover to, space, player or ball
*Once fully recovered defend as normal
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Practice Organisation
*7v7 game set up with channels on each side of pitch in both halves.
*When you lose the ball in opponents half all players from that half must touch the end line and recover. To score you must get the ball wide and cross.
Coaching Points
1. Quick attacking, get the ball wide as early as possible (use the overload)
2. Movement to get players in wide zones initially
3. Movement from players entering the box
4. Type of cross/finish
