Transition Goalscoring Game

Organization:

Players form 3 lines at an appropriate distance from goal (U9 at build out line - U10 a few years back)

1 GK in the goal (if a 2nd player wants to GK they can rotate after one full cycle of the activity)

Each player needs a ball

Instructions:

Left line gets to go on a breakaway against the GK and tries to score (no rebounds)

Attacker immediately turns and transitions to defender

Middle line player attacks in 1v1 and tries to score (no rebounds)

Right line player enters with a ball to create 2v1. Defender remains and attacker from middle line is support player, allow rebounds and time limit (shot clock) for the attackers to attempt to score

Coaching:

Speed of attack - positive touches towards goal

Mentality - WANT TO SCORE

Decision Making - In 2v1, is it better to pass or dribble

Transition - left line player goes from attack to defend. Middle line player 1st attacker to 2nd attacker (supporting)
