We are working with the 9, 7, 11, 8, 10 on pressing and delaying in our attacking third when we lose the ball or the opposing player with the ball is facing the endline.
•Cues to Press or Delay: backpass, BC body shape, distance of 1st defender to BC
When PRESSING:-1st Defender Shape Press-Cover block passing lanes-1st & 2nd defenders “Squeeze”-Cover defenders READ ball carrier’s intentions—Ready for ball in behind or ball into targets
When DELAYING:-1st Defender Prevent Progress-“Squeeze” from behind-Protect Space BEHIND BACKLINE(Keep all play IN FRONT)

2nd Def provides cover for the space in behind the 1st defender.
3rd Def provides balance on far side while pinching in to stay connected
Always look to protect the high value end zone area
